Color Code: Art/Design/Science

In the COLOR CODE series Bendito explores computational processes to generate expressive color palettes while raising questions about digital color aesthetics, color design methods and the intersection of art and science.  Through his computational color design methods research, Bendito develops computational algorithm to produce color palettes for RGB and CMYK outputs.  He uses a hybrid process of creation that combines mathematical and intuitive approaches for self-expression. Formalistically he orchestrates via color and shape visual solutions that propose a unified reading of extremes: balance and chaos; light and darkness; structure and spontaneity… He believes that procedural colors will play a major role in art and design color selection processes in the 21st Century.

I’m honored to be one of the five selected creatives for the 2021 edition of the “Welcome Race Fans” competition, which features digital art in the form of animated GIFs. The event is a collaboration between the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and the Arts Council of Indianapolis. The GIFS will  be projected onto buildings around Monument Circle, video screens at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and Indianapolis International Airport, and more.
